Build a bus body on the ProMaster's low front-wheel-drive platform and you get the low-floor cutaway bus: step-free, ramp-boarded group transport without the size, cost, or fuel appetite of a conventional small bus. The Frontrunner is the flagship of this class.

Transit agencies are adopting the format for paratransit and dial-a-ride precisely because boarding is faster and safer: passengers using mobility devices roll straight aboard, with no lift cycle to slow the route down.
The Frontrunner, from the builder formerly known as New England Wheels, is the body TESCO stocks on it, 8 to 10 seats with two or three wheelchair positions, and ARBOC's ProMaster-based Independence joins it on the lot. 40 have gone out so far, every one on the 3.6L V6.
