An airport parking shuttle is the highest-cycle duty in the business: a loop of a few miles, twenty hours a day, a full load with luggage every trip and doors that open hundreds of times a shift. Operators buy in fleets, need every unit identical, and need them on a date.

TESCO delivered sixty airside-ready buses to a Colorado airport contractor on a tight schedule and builds parking shuttles the same way for operators nationwide: 25-to-33-passenger bodies on Ford F-550 and Freightliner S2C, wide aisles, luggage racks, a lift, dual doors where the operation wants them, and graphics to the operator's brand.

Buyer's guide

What to spec

The decisions that matter for airport parking shuttle buses, the ones a rep will walk through with you before the build sheet.

Cycle count

Doors, steps, lift and brakes are consumed by stop count, not mileage. Heavy-duty door mechanisms and brakes are the spec that keeps the fleet out of the shop.

Luggage racks and aisle

Interior luggage racks at the entry and a wide aisle let a full load board with bags in under a minute. Under-floor bays slow the loop; most parking shuttles skip them.

Dual doors

A rear door cuts dwell time at the terminal curb. It costs seats; decide by loop timing.

Fleet identity

Keeping every bus in the fleet identical (same spec, same wrap) simplifies training, dispatch and parts. TESCO builds fleets to a standard spec.

Airside requirements

Operating airside brings lighting, marking and communication requirements set by the airport. The Colorado case study below covers a strobe-light requirement the factory couldn't meet and how it was solved.

Alternative fuels

Short loops from a depot suit CNG and electric well; airports increasingly require or reward them.

Questions

Questions we get about airport parking shuttle buses

How many buses can you deliver, and how fast?

Fleet orders are built and delivered against your contract date; the Colorado case study below covers sixty buses delivered airside-ready on a tight schedule. In-stock units ship within days.

What's the right size for a parking shuttle?

Most operators run 25–33 passenger buses on an F-550 or Freightliner chassis: enough capacity to clear a curb full of arrivals with luggage, still short enough to maneuver a terminal loop.

Can you meet airport-specific equipment requirements?

Yes. TESCO's engineers integrate beacons, marking, radios and other airside requirements, at the factory where possible and through local partners where the factory can't. Send the airport's operating requirements with the RFP.

Do you offer electric or CNG shuttles?

Yes. Short depot-based loops are a strong fit for both; ask your rep about current electric and CNG options.

Spec it with someone who's built it before

Tell a TESCO rep what your routes look like and they'll come back with a build sheet, a delivery date and a price, whether you buy new, buy pre-owned or lease.
